Course Information

Foodsafe Level 1 is designed for people working on the front lines of the food service industry, from dishwashers to servers, bussers to line cooks and chefs. The course covers safe food handling,  Hygiene,sanitation and work safety. In level 1, you'll learn how to prevent foodborne illness, receive and store food, prepare and serve food safely, and clean  and sanitize.


The new Foodsafe Level 2 class is now  available in  2012. The  management focus is the creation of a food safety culture. Owners, supervisors and managers will be able to reduce the risk of foodborne illness, heighten their level of due dilligence, and strive to operate a safe and financially viable business.  Level 2 focuses on management techniques, and  how to create a Sanitation and  Food Safety Plan.

WHMIS

WHMIS is taught by WorkSafe recognized trainers. The Workplace Hazardous Information System (WHMIS) provides specific health and safety information about workplace hazardous materials and controlled products. This course content provides participants with  necessary safety information when working with chemicals.

 

The course covers classicifation of controlled products, a worker's and employer's responsibilities,  safe handling of chemicals,  labeling systems, and how to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets. The course content includes information on  products that are partially or completely exempt  from WHMIS requirements.

MarketSafe is intended for farmers and producers who make, bake or grow lower risk foods to sell at local markets. The course may be of interest to market managers, farm gate vendors and food vendors at other types of temporary markets.

 

Market Safe addresses issues specific to temporary markets. It is not equivalent to Foodsafe Level One.

Joint Health and Safety Committee Training

Are you a member of a health and safety committee at work? This program helps you to familiarize yourself with WCB information. You will leave knowing:

  5.  documentation and reports

This is a certificate course.

This course is directed towards management. If you're a supervisor, and you want to manage safety in the workplace, this course is for you!

The Serving it Right program provides information on the effects of alcohol on people and techniques to preventing over-service. Awareness of this information helps to develop a more positive environment for service providers and their clients. Group rates are available.

Good Customer Service

3 or 6 hour workshop, or 3 day seminar.

The first impression is the most important one, especially in the hospitality and tourism industry. Learning good customer service is key to any successful business. In this workshop, course topics are targeted to people who are working in the service industries, i.e. retail sales, hospitality work, or any position where there is one-on-one contact with the public.

The Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point System (HACCP) is based on monitoring Critical Control Points during food preparation. Implementing a HACCP program and a Food Safety Plan that is monitored and recorded helps to maintain the safety of food. If you don't know where to start, consultation is available. 2-hour in-house workshops can be arranged.

Consultations take a minimum of 2 days with optional ongoing support throughout the year until your system is up and running.

Gap analysis indicates areas in production that could impact the safety of your food.  HACCP audits can be arranged .

A Ladder is one of he most  commonly used pieces of equipment in the workforce.A little training goes a long way to  create safety awareness and help prevent accidents. Reduce the risk of falls which usually can be prevented.  

Back Safety

Based on Worksafe recommendations. We have one back. Learn how the spine and  back muscles  support the body, and how  it can be overused. Back injuries  can account for up to  and sometimes more than 30% of workplace accidents  in some industry sectors, most of which can be avoided.

 Cover the correct  lifting techniques, workposture and ways to move equipment. Increase your awareness of safe and preventive  techniques and how to avoid injury.
